💡Getting Started Checklist

Once you’ve received your admin credentials and you sign into your Pixfizz admin, where should you start? Below are the main to-do items to get you started.

1. Admin: Getting Started

  • Set Website Title, Timezone, Language and Currency via Settings > General

  • Setup your custom domain

  • Request SSL certificate from Pixfizz

  • Payment gateway setup - Pixfizz has a range of gateways already integrated found within the superadmin

  • Register recaptcha and then copy & past the site and secret keys into the superadmin

  • Assign admin permissions to team members via Users > Add User form and then you’ll have an ‘admin’ checkbox to check and save

  • Access Billing, Changelog, Help portal or the MSA (Master Service Agreement) via the elipses (3 dots) in the bottom left of the admin

2. Products

  • Define product portfolio

  • Provide production specifications to Pixfizz for support in creating the first Templates

  • Setup Designs for Templates

  • Setup Product Attributes for each Template with pricing

  • Setup Collections based on how you want to organize your portfolio

  • Publish Designs to Collections

  • Prepare product photos, descriptions and specifications for each design, the more unique the better

3. Storefront Design (MasterShop theme)

  • Upload your logo via the Website > Assets tab and reference the correct file name and adjust height via the header > logo Snippet

  • Upload your favicon (192x192 pixels in PNG format recommended) by updating ‘favicon.png’ found in Website > Assets

  • Define your navigation style (style1 or style2) via the ‘index’ layout on line 19 found in Website > Layouts

  • Set your general color scheme via the style Snippet folder in Website > Snippets

  • Set your main font and any custom styling via the ‘custom.css’ page in Website > Pages

    • we suggest using fonts.google.com to easily apply a new font family or style to your storefront. You will find instructions on the custom.css page

  • Define main navigation structure based on product heirarchy

  • Define footer and navigation content

  • Update the provided Contact Us page with relevant content. The contact form will send the submitted content to the email that’s setup in the Settings > Email Notifications

  • Setup privacy policy and shipping and return terms (required for Google Merchant Center)

  • Setup an FAQ page (valuable for SEO)

  • Setup a blog (valuable for SEO)

  • Add logo, favicon and title to the default Design Tool Configuration (Settings > Design Tool)

  • Adjust any relevant settings within the Design Tool Configuration(s), request to have PDF importing activated by Pixfizz

4. Notifications

  • Add default email address to fields on Settings > Email Notifications

  • Set the HTML Format checkbox and request for Pixfizz to activate the newer Liquid code setting

  • Setup the email notifications that customers will receive for relevant eCommerce transactions

    • Order Confirmation

    • Order Shipped

    • Signup

    • Password Reset

    • Abandoned Cart

  • Sample templates available to test and edit within Website > Snippets > email-notifications

  • Set the support email address in the ‘email-notifications’ > ‘support-email-address’ Snippet

  • Copy and paste the public url to your logo in the ‘email-notifications’ > ‘logo’ Snippet

  • Ensure the ‘Advanced settings’ (top right link on Settings > Email Notifications) have been updated to fully whitelabel notifications

5. SEO Basics

  • Update storefront’s title, description & keywords via the ‘html.head’ Snippet

    Title should contain:

    • at least 1 core keyword

    • your business/brand name

    • your business location, if applicable and only on the home page

    • max 80 characters to avoid truncation

    • where appropriate use title modifiers like ‘best’, ‘top’, ‘new’

    Description should contain:

    • max 300 characters, but ideally 160

    • include multiple keywords that considers search intent

  • Setup and test schema for all pages, including product pages

  • Request to have the website crawler run your storefront to generate an XML sitemap and XML product feed

  • Ensure all image assets have a description (renders as the alt tag) and a clean, logical naming convention

  • Ensure all images are properly optimized for web

  • All pages should have a dynamic page title and description

  • All pages should have a single h1 (main header tag), ideally matching the page title

  • Submit sitemap to Google Search Console, under Index > Sitemaps

  • Submit product feed to Google Merchant Center, under Products > Feeds

    • A contact and returns’ policy link must be in visible in the footer for GMC

  • Request from Pixfizz to have a redirect on the home page to avoid duplicate content on different urls

  • Content is king. Create great content that’s up to date, in depth and visually appealing

6. Production Setup

  • Provide job ticket sample to Pixfizz to be replicated

7. Shipping Setup

  • Define shipping options and pricing

8. Testing

  • Test all product sizes through to production to ensure orders are received properly

  • Test all aspects of the user experience on both desktop and mobile

    • Registering a new account

    • Receiving a signup email notification

    • Navigating through product collections

    • Testing product options

    • Creating and saving a new project

    • Adding a project to the cart

    • Adding a promocode to the cart

    • Checking out (address creation & selection)

    • Purchasing an order with a credit card and check that the order has automatically updated to Confirmed status

    • Receiving order confirmation email notification

9. Marketing Plans

  • Add social media accounts to your site (header or footer)

  • Add a signup for Newsletter form, even if you don’t plan on sending out newsletters it’s a good idea to start building a database

  • Prepare storefront launch plan for friends & family to test out the basic user experience and ordering process

  • Add relevant storewide promotions with urgency/scarcity triggers, e.g. ‘Free shipping on orders over $50 - Today Only’

  • Ensure you have high-quality images - this is vital to create brand credibility and increase conversion rates

  • Create landing pages for your core product categories - focus on quality images and copy with appropriate keywords - leverage AI tools like ChatGPT

  • Add service or product reviews to the home page with links directly to the product’s reviewed

  • Include any affiliates, partners, blogs, news, awards or trust badges to build brand credibility

  • Re-marketing tools

  • Google Tag Manager

  • Google Analytics

  • Stamped.io Reviews

  • Stamped.io Loyalty & Rewards

  • Klaviyo (email) - leverage the live data being collected to trigger email flows

  • ChatGPT with Chrome plugin AIPRM
