Instructions on how to setup custom domains with Pixfizz

A domain is the URL or web address where your customers go to find your store online. By default, your storefront will have a pixfizz.com URL, however you can change the web address that's displayed to customers. You need to use a custom domain, such as www.yourbrand.com that can be purchased from a domain provider. Consider using a domain that matches your brand, or as close as possible, as it can help you build trust in your online store.

Once you have purchased a custom domain for your brand you need to point it to the Pixfizz servers. This can be done via your domain's DNS settings by setting up a CNAME record that points to hosting.pixfizz.com.

Root Domain Setup

If you are going to use the root domain for your storefront, for example yourdomain.com or www.yourdomain.com, then we suggest you create an A record on the root, represented with a '*' and then point it to the IP value of 108.168.254.27. Then you must also create a CNAME record for the www subdomain with the value of hosting.pixfizz.com.

Subdomain Setup

If you are going to be using a subdomain for your storefront, for example design.yourdomain.com then you will only need to create a CNAME record pointing to hosting.pixfizz.com.

Connect the Custom Domain via your Pixfizz admin

After ensuring that the domains are correctly pointing to Pixfizz, you can then go into your Pixfizz admin, navigate to the Settings > General tab where you will find the Domain Hosting section. From there you must hit the Add Domain button and simply add the Hostname value for your domain, for example www.yourdomain.com.

To have an SSL certificate added for your domain, please contact [email protected] to request it. This can only be done by a Pixfizz staff member via the superadmin and once requested, will take up to 60 minutes before it is activated.

Pixfizz is integrated with Let's Encrypt to provide automated SSL certificates which automatically renew.

What is the 'Block Admin' setting?

In case you want to avoid any access to the Pixfizz admin portal on a custom domain, you can do so by requesting Pixfizz to activate the setting. Once activated, this means that the admin portal for your storefront will only be accessible via the Pixfizz subdomain.
