# The Design Tool

The Design Tool is the core personalisation experience in Pixfizz. It's the interactive editor your customers use to create their product — uploading photos, adding and formatting text, choosing layouts, applying filters, and previewing the result before purchasing.

The editor is embedded directly in your storefront. Customers enter it after selecting a product and a starting design, and return to your store when they add to cart or save their project.

### What you can control

Every aspect of the editor experience is configurable through **Design Tool Configurations** (admin: Settings > Design Tool). You can:

* Toggle 30+ individual features on or off — image rotation, crop, filters, shapes, QR codes, text tools, autofill, and more
* Set the available fonts, colour palettes, and default typography
* Control what customers can edit on each page — which element types can be added, whether backgrounds can be changed, and how strictly the layout is enforced
* Brand the editor with your own logo, colours, and page titles
* Inject custom CSS or JavaScript for advanced customisation

Different product types can use different configurations, so a photo book and a business card can offer completely different editing experiences.

### How it connects to your products

Each product in Pixfizz is backed by a **Template** (the production blueprint) and one or more **Designs** (the starting layouts customers personalise). The Design Tool Configuration referenced by the Template determines which editor features are available for that product.

Projects created by customers are saved to their account and can be resumed, re-ordered, or shared.
