# OrderHub Desktop

OrderHub Desktop is a Windows application that runs in the system tray and connects your production floor to OrderHub. It handles automated file downloading, pre-print image review, film scan uploading, XML order imports, and printer routing.

***

### Overview

OrderHub Desktop provides four production tools in one application:

1. **Job downloading and review** — polls OrderHub every 60 seconds, downloads job files from FTP, and provides a QC screen with AI quality checks
2. **Auto film scan uploading** — watches your scanner's output folder and uploads scans to OrderHub automatically, with AI-powered orientation correction
3. **XML order imports** — drop PF or ROES-format order XML files into a watched folder and they are parsed into OrderHub jobs automatically
4. **Routing engine** — rules-based routing that sends downloaded files to the correct lab printer hot folder or shared folder

### Requirements

* Windows 10 or later
* Active OrderHub account
* One installation per location

OrderHub Desktop is not available for Mac.

***

### How to Install

1. Log into OrderHub Web
2. Go to **Settings > Desktop**
3. Download the installer (\~90 MB)
4. Run the installer and accept the UAC prompt
5. On first launch, the settings window opens and a tray icon appears in the system tray (bottom-right, near the clock)

### How to Configure

The settings window has four tabs:

#### OrderHub API

* **API URL** — your OrderHub API endpoint
* **API Key** — your authentication key
* Click **Test API Connection** to verify before saving

#### FTP Server

* **Host** — your FTP server hostname
* **Port** — default is 21
* **Username and password**
* Click **Test FTP Connection** to verify — most connection failures are caused by firewalls, not incorrect credentials

#### Downloads

* **Download directory** — choose a local folder (e.g. `C:\Downloads\OrderHub`). Avoid network drives unless they are consistently stable.

#### Application

* **Enable automatic polling** — starts the 60-second download loop. Without this enabled, nothing happens.
* **Launch on Windows startup** — recommended for production environments. The app starts automatically when the computer boots.
* **Show desktop notifications** — optional alerts when files are downloaded

***

### Daily Use

OrderHub Desktop lives in the system tray:

* **Single-click** the tray icon to open Settings
* **Right-click** for a quick menu: polling status, start/stop polling, open download folder, view logs, quit
* **Hover** over the icon to see the last API check time

Only one instance of OrderHub Desktop can run at a time. Launching a second copy focuses the existing window.

### Tips

* For production environments, enable both **automatic polling** and **launch on Windows startup** so the app runs continuously without operator intervention.
* If FTP connections fail, check firewall rules before troubleshooting credentials.
* The download directory should be on a local drive for reliability. Network drives can cause issues if they become temporarily unavailable.
