# Image Filters with AI

## AI Restyle: Turn Photos into Art in the Design Tool

The Design Tool now includes **AI Restyle** — a set of AI-powered artistic styles your customers can apply to their photos while personalizing a product. One click turns an ordinary photo into a watercolor painting, a cartoon, a pencil sketch, and more — opening up a whole new category of personalized products, from pet portraits to caricature mugs to gallery-style wall art.

### The styles

Seven artistic styles are available at launch:

* **Watercolor** — soft, painterly washes of color
* **Pencil Sketch** — hand-drawn graphite look
* **Oil Painting** — rich, textured brushwork
* **Cartoon** — bold, playful illustration
* **Pop Art** — vivid, high-contrast graphic style
* **3D Character** — sculpted, animated-film look
* **Anime** — Japanese animation style

### How customers use it

1. In the Design Tool, the customer selects a photo they've placed in their design.
2. They open the AI tools and choose a style from the **Restyle** section.
3. The style is generated and **applied immediately** — no extra confirmation step, so there's no risk of a chosen style being lost on the way to cart.
4. The restyled image flows through preview, cart, and production files just like any other image.

Restyle works alongside the editor's existing image tools — customers can still crop, rotate, and adjust their restyled photo as usual.

### Usage limits and cost control

AI generations are processed per image, and each site has a **daily usage limit** to keep costs predictable:

* A **site-wide default** limit applies to all users.
* **Per-user overrides** let you raise (or lower) the limit for specific users.

This means you stay in control: customers get a generous creative allowance, and usage can't run away from you.

### Product ideas

Restyle shines on products where the photo *is* the design:

* Watercolor or oil-painting **pet portraits** on canvas
* **Cartoon and anime** styles on mugs, phone cases, and kids' products
* Pencil-sketch **couple and family portraits** for framing
* Pop-art prints as statement wall decor

Because the customer creates the artwork themselves in seconds, these premium-feeling products need no design service behind them.
